Griffin turns 1.5 years old!!!!

Holy smokes.  Griffin turned a year and a half old this week, and I turned 29! 

Stats at yesterday's 18 month checkup:

Height: 34" (95%)

Weight: 27lbs 11oz (75%)

Weight for Height: 65%

Head Circumference: 49.5cm (90%)

BMI 16.9

What is Griff up to these days?
Trouble. 

Jumping has become his favorite past time. Running and his ability to reach and climb onto furniture has become a bit alarming.. Last weekend, Tom and I found our little monkey sitting casually in his highchair checking out snacks that are typically out of reach... he climbed up unassisted and unsupervised- oops.

His current words are: ball, mama, dada, byebye, more, baby, kitty, dog (doh), duck, rock, man, knee, booboob (that means boobs or pirate's booty), bottle, boo, bus ("buhh"), bubbles, nine, adobo (no clue what the heck that means), ut oh, and mmmm, peepee. My favorite thing I've heard him say so far was directed at our flushing toilet.. "bye bye pee pee".

He is off the bottle (got cut off when we went to Cape May 3 weeks ago), just moved up into the toddler 1 class at school, still uses a pacifier at naptime/nighttime, loves his lovies, likes puzzles (I think he just likes clapping proudly and cheering each time he gets a piece in).  Griff can climb/walk down a few stairs holding the rail, he uses utensils, enjoys throwing rocks, and dumping things out of containers and putting them back in (or not putting them back in).  In particular he loves dumping Greta's huge bucket of sidewalk chalk, and my unused box of tampons all over the bathroom floor. Griff plays the recorder while marching around the living room (he can blow into it to create sound whereas he used to just walk around making humming noises with it in his mouth).  He blows his nose, he is starting to color, he makes siren sounds when he sees large trucks/emergency vehicles, makes an airplane noise and says "dada" when we see one in the sky, says "choochoo" when he sees or plays with trains, and he can sort of throw a ball and knows how to hold his arms out to catch (but can't catch yet).  Griff tells us when he wants to watch Curious George, by sitting on the couch, holding the remote up and saying "ahh ahh" or "mann".  He loves listening to Kindermusik during car rides and now anticipates motions or parts of the music.  His favorite food is avocado and anything with cheese.  He ate his first Kraft jet puffed marshmello the other day loved it.. so high in nutritional value.. oh well.

Griffin has quite the sense of humor.. he laughs all the time, and loves sneaking up to me and saying 'boo'.  He is wild but cuddly and lovable, and definitely has a strong personality.

I love and treasure every minute with him. 

14.8 months old, the Stats!

Griffin had his 15 month doc appointment today and here are his stats:

Ht: 32in.(80%)
Wt: 25lbs 8oz (67%)
Age: 14.8 mos
Weight for Height: 72%
Head Circumference: 48.5cm (86%)

As a followup to my ever so negative venting session from yesterday: Dr. D'Souza said that babies will tend to act out/misbehave more with the people they trust most.. so that made me feel a little better about the fact that Griffin is whining and throwing his mini tantrums with me.  Phew.

Griffin Turns 10 Months Old!

Griffin at 10 months old:

- Height 28.5"/55%, weight: 23lbs/83%, weight for height 96%, head circumference 46.5cm/80% (taken at 9.3 months old!)
- Developmental Milestones: has been pulling himself up to his knees for a few weeks now, and in the last few days has pulled himself up to standing position
- Favorite word is "ball" or "ballllllllluhhhhluhhhh" as Griff pronounces it; can also say "mama", "dada", "dog", and "tat" (cat)
- Loves clapping, in fact, if he's standing and people around him say "Yaaaay", he will make it a point to sit back down and clap.
- Favorite Song: "If You're Happy and You Know It" (he will literally start clapping when he hears me sing the first 2 words "If You're.."). It's a great distraction for him while on the changing table.
- Gives the sweetest hugs and kisses.
- Can dance with some rhythm. Watching him dance is so entertaining. He bounces his shoulders to the song in the Apple iPad commercial and to other random music on his activity table.
- Just started pointing with his finger. Will touch his fingertip to mine (like in E.T.) and then laughs.
- Currently eating finger foods; likes his sippy cup, but has not yet fully mastered using it.
- Loves bath time, especially with Dad. Griff gets so excited when he hears the water filling the tub, he will stand up and try to lean into the tub.
- Takes 2 naps a day, around 10 and 2:30, had been waking up once a night recently whining a bit, so we are on night 3 of sleep training.
- Has 8 teeth! The 8th one just hit the surface of his gums.
- Has a busy weekly schedule, M: daycare, T: AM swimming, PM playdate, W: daycare, R: AM playdate, music class, F: errands with Mom
- Loves his Lovies- particularly the lightblue dog head blankets- thank goodness I bought 2 of them.
- Already lost his "K" card.
- Has seen the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans and taken 4 round-trip flights, slept overnight in 8 states: MA, ME, NY, NV, MD, OH, CT, CA
- Has outgrown the "bucket" car seat and was upgraded to his MyRide65.

Griff Turns 6 Months Old!

Our little prince is now 6 months old (well, as of July 11th). Wow, time flies.

Griffin's Current Stats:

- Height: 27.25" (77%)

- Weight: 21lbs 10oz (97%)

- Head Circumference: 45cm (82%)
- Clothing Size: 6-12mo
- Shoe Size: 3

- Night Sleeping: He is waking up 1-2 times a night.

- Eating: Just started solid foods, currently eating soupy oatmeal with breastmilk.

- Teeth: has 2 on the bottom

- Favorite Toys: blue sleeping bear head blankie, flowers with crunch leaf, Mortimer the moose, Sophie the giraffe, alligator piano

- Favorite Activities: swinging, playing in his orange pool, swimming with Dad, hanging out with Johnny & co., going to the grocery store in the red carrier

- Things that Make Him Laugh/Smile: Me pretending to eat his hand, lots of kissing in his ticklish spots, looking in the mirror, being thrown in the air by Dad, squeaky sounds

- Favorite Color: Orange (duh!)

- Favorite Outfit: Blue and white button down with khakis, white onsie with red shorts with crabs, or naked!

- Recent Developmental Milestones: able to find/put his own pacifier in his mouth, rolling over, starting to lift his butt to crawl, sitting up pretty well, lots of mumbling ("bah bah, mah mah"), screeching, squealing, lots of standing with assistance

- Has Traveled to: Las Vegas, Bethesda, MD, Cape Cod, Maine
